The XTS 24 has been designed with a wide range of processing capabilities from lab scale sampling to research & development work but more importantly it is designed for small batch size production work where delivery and response time is critical to customer satisfaction.
The barrel comes as standard in 24D or 36D to give optimum mixing time and / or potential higher outputs. Segmented insert type liners means Xtrutech are now able to use harder wearing & / or more corrosive resistant premium materials that maximises performance against cost. High intensity & efficient cooling channels and slab heaters reduce “localised” hot spots and provide excellent temperature control.
The new barrel has been designed with single-piece, robust backing blocks with fewer clamping bolts to save barrel opening times and offer quick access to the screws when cleaning or during maintenance. A split chilled discharge arrangement is also fitted that shortens the barrel opening time. Temperature control of the product is achieved through optimising the screw profile and highly efficient water cooling in the barrel backing blocks. A combination of wear resistant steels and strategically positioned lengths of insert type liners, maximise the wear life of the XTS barrel and minimise future replacement costs.
The Xtrutech barrel design incorporates highly efficient cooling channels and cast aluminium bronze heater plates that reduce “localised” hot spots and give overall improved temperature control. A specially designed feed port, coupled with twin lead high intake “pusher” feed screws, helps improve the intake of bulky powders that are normally difficult to feed. This makes the new barrel more efficient and improves performance in terms of output.
Highly efficient water cooling channels coupled with aluminium bronze slab style heaters reduce “localised” hot spots and give overall improved temperature control.
Each zone has 4.5 times greater cross section of water connections and 3.5 times greater cooling water volume than other OEM machines
Xtrutech is using an industry proven gearbox from PIV to ensure reliability of high torque transmission. This particular gearbox range is commonly used in the plastics processing industry where much higher processing powers and speeds are required.
A torque limiter coupling, designed using the modular principle from Autoguard, protects the gearbox and processing unit, including the shafts, screw elements and liners, from high and low speed breakages, which would otherwise be very costly.
The machine mounted HMI touch screen control panel has been designed for simplicity in operation.
Each stage in the start up – shut down sequence can be easily mastered – A choice of either Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC is available as standard.
